Frontpage: The MP3 store is live!

As many of you may have heard, Rhapsody is now selling DRM-free 256kbps MP3s. And coupled with this release, is a release of a new flash-based web player. I personally worked on both of these projects, and I'm excited to see what everyone else thinks.

Frontpage: Rhapsody on NetVibes

I'm a big Netvibes fan. I think they do a fantastic job at the whole RSS/desktop/reader/ajaxy thingy. That's not to say I don't like the other alternatives, but Netvibes grabbed me away from google/ig early on and I've never looked back.

A handy Rhapsody mashup: Grazrhapsody.

Grazrhapsody takes the best of Grazr and the best of Rhapsody Web Services and sticks them together in a great little application that will get you diving into our music catalog in more ways than you thought possible.

How to get your band on Rhapsody

Posted by: mlapora on Saturday, March 29, 2008 - 11:21 AM
I, once being in a band myself, was looking for guidance on how to get my band's music onto major music services like Rhapsody, iTunes, Napster, etc. The first step is very easy, simply submit your CD or Album to CD Baby.

Frontpage: The Test of a First Rate Web Service

Posted by: mlapora on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 - 06:26 AM  | Topic: General Announcement
A long time ago I came to the conclusion that the test of a first-rate application was the ability of the consumer to use 95% of the application without ever resorting to any documentation. Everything should be patently obvious and available at the right place and the right time. A few years in, I also came to understand that great applications were often used in ways that were completely unanticipated by the development teams that designed the application and created the features. Breaking the rules and moving beyond the documentation was a surprising common usage pattern. Sure, new uses for application features were partly due to the sheer combinatorial possibilities of mixing features to enable new effects. And then, of course, on occasion there were those pathfinder customers that hit some artificial ceiling and simply broke the rules of the product and struck out for new territory, turning features and product design on edge.

Rhapsody Web Services & Yahoo Pipes

Posted by: mlapora on Friday, February 29, 2008 - 09:00 PM  | Topic: General Announcement

I'm sure some of you are familiar with Yahoo Pipes. You may have already created your very own Rhapsody pipe. I on-the-other-hand have not done much with Pipes and the recent news that it was their first year anniversary reminded me I’ve been remiss. So, in this post I will talk about a Rhapsody Pipe that I recently put together. If its been a while since you played around with Rhapsody Web Services this may be a great time to reengage via Yahoo Pipes.

Frontpage: Bungee Announced

Posted by: mlapora on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 - 02:44 AM  | Topic: General Announcement

A few days ago Bungee Labs officially opened their Platform As A Service (PAAS), called Bungee Connect, to all developers as a public beta. Here's the link: www.bungeelabs.com.

We've had the pleasure of working with the Bungee Labs folks to test drive our own Rhapsody Web Services, and we have been universally impressed with their offering. While much has been written about their launch, I thought I'd take a few moments to highlight some of the good press they've received, and discuss how I feel the Bungee "cloud" analogy relates to the Rhapsody "cloud" analogy.
