Rhapsody Web Services Frequently Asked Questions

Rhapsody Web Services is a set of services that enable partners, developers, and bloggers to bring Rhapsody into their applications. The theory is that you know how best to meet the musical needs of your customers, and we should support you in that, whether you’re a web site featuring a niche genre of music, a portal looking for a music solution, a band wanting to feature your songs full length in high quality, or a blogger looking for that perfect song for today’s entry. Mash up what we have with what you have, and you’re bound to create something incredible.

Rhapsody offers all US users 25 free full-length, full-quality song plays per month. After that, they get 30-second samples or can subscribe to Rhapsody Unlimited for unlimited access to the whole two-million-plus songs.

Yes. All Rhapsody Web Services are made available free of charge. There are a couple of restrictions, but we want you to be free to find new and innovative ways to discover and play music on our dime.

As new web services come online, we will be updating our SDK, which you can download from the web service web site. The SDK contains descriptions of the services, APIs, and sample code. We will also be blogging about new features as they become available.

We want you to use the services and data for any number of purposes, but there are a couple of limitations. Check out the terms of use for more information.

When you’re ready to show off your creation, tell us about it by filling out the form in the Rhapsody Applications section. Many great applications will be featured on our blog.

Currently no contests are being run, but we look forward to featuring many great applications that are making use of Rhapsody Web Services.

There are some great tools for bloggers, so they can add music playback to their site with ease. Try taking your Rhapsody Listening History Feeds and putting them in a flash feed reader like Slide or Grazr. Or pick out your favorite albums and blog about them, then send your users to a Play Link (play.rhapsody.com/artistname/albumname).

Unfortunately Rhapsody is no longer running the affiliates program.
